Cairns, way up in tropical north Queensland, is probably a place that you wouldn’t want to fly to at all parts of the year. The 2010 City2Surf is about to take place on August 8, 2010 in downtown Sydney and its surrounds! Be aware that many streets will be blocked off, and public transportation will be inhibited in areas where the race will occur.
The City2Surf race began in 1971 with a mere 2000 participants in Sydney. It is sponsored by The Sun-Herald and has since grown to a massive number of 65,000 contestants ranging in ages from youth to seniors,

Splendour in the Grass is a very popular music and arts festival that takes place during the Australian winter, usually in Byron Bay, New South Wales. The festival comes around every July and features heaps of bands and musical acts that result in lightning quick ticket sales.

Thanks to the Aboriginal language, Australia has been graced with some unique place names. One of my favorites is right here in Sydney – Woolloomooloo – which is surprisingly supposed to be pronounced like Woo-la-ma-loo instead of how it is spelled. Although some of these names aren’t supposed to be funny or rude, they just happen to turn out that way when relayed in English.
