Victoria

victoria australiaVictoria is the Australian state located in the lower eastern section of the country that gets its name from Queen Victoria. It sits below New South Wales and borders South Australia to the west. Victoria is home to Melbourne, the Yarra Valley and the Great Ocean Road to name a few of its jewels, and It is also a great hub for getting to Tasmania (by boat or plane).

Victoria is a prime tourist destination because of its natural beauty, accessibility and its cooler weather in the summer months as opposed to the Northern Territory. International flights can be found entering Melbourne Tullamarine Airport, and accommodation can be booked as hotels or budget hostels.

The best time to visit Victoria would be in the shoulder seasons (spring or fall). Winter can be cooler than in New South Wales, and summer will see an influx of tourists.

Melbourne is the capital city of Victoria, and the second populous city in Australia overall. Many would call Melbourne a trendier version of Sydney with a larger arts and cafe culture taking over. But, the cooler temperatures in the winter months can be a bit off-putting. Still, there are plenty of things to do, and free things to do, in Melbourne. If you’re short of time, have a look at this 2 day Melbourne itinerary ideas post.
