Australian Snow fields- Opening Weekend!

rove2-1159830028.jpgWell folks it is finally here- marked by a cold rainy day in Sydney, the opening weekend of the Australian snow fields has arrived! And appropriate it is, that they are called snow fields instead of the snow mountains. ahem….
For all my good natured scoffing, there is plenty of fun to be had at the snow here. If you are here during winter and you love snow sport- you must…no… you are obliged- dare I say it- to go and give it a whirl just to say you have ridden/skiied Down Under. At any rate- it is opening weekend and IT IS SNOWING!!!!! YAY!
If you are in Victoria: Ski bunnies will flee to Mt Hotham in droves now that Australia’s highest Alpine village is getting ready for business. The opening weekend at Hothamand Dinner plain, June 8-11, promises to be huge. With the official velvet and Vodka Opening Ball at the White Room getting the party stared. The fun continues throughout the weekend with the Jagermaiester Mega Disco at the General Store and Sunday Sessions at Zirky’s. With 30 whole centimeters of snow, if you can’t ski- at least you can dance and party!
The primary ski fields in NSW are Perisher Blue and Thredbo. Check out the Snow Cams! Bring on the Snow!
