Schoolies in Hostels

My pops, Dave, does a lot of customer service for BootsnAll since we hired him a few months ago. Today, at breakkie he told me about a 17 year old Aussie that wanted to stay in an Airlie Beach Hostel that we have on our site. The young man was wondering if he could stay at a hostel on his own despite being 17.

Here is one of the e-mails he received back from a Hostel Manager:

“Hi Dave- sorry but we are a very small hostel and we do not take schoolies.
Kind regards”

1 of the 4 hostels up there would allow him….but that e-mail cracked me up a bit.

I may be wrong here, but the guy could be referring to ’schoolies’ as in the week or so mid-November when Y12s [final year high school] break up and go stupid on the piss, etc… so if the booking was/is for ‘around nowish’ it may have nothing to do with his age/staying alone, but rather said event of mayhem…

Oh my god if I’m right, it would seem I may have offered sound advice instead of a mere ramble…

Not always just full of shit Ging
