The Northern Territory Backpackers Association says it does not believe that the backpacker market is shock-proofing the tourism industry.
Tourism Australia says that over the past five years the number of international backpackers travelling to Australia has grown at twice the rate of all international visitors.
Backpacker Association president Bardia Bodaghi says that in the Territory, the backpacker sector has suffered as much as any other part of the tourism industry due to international terrorist attacks.
