Inbound tourism worth $32b in a decade


The value of inbound tourism will grow to $32.1 billion by 2014, by which time China will be Australia’s top earning market.

Inbound tourism’s value will grow at an average 6.3 per cent from $18.5 billion, according to the inaugural release of economic value market forecasts from the Tourism Forecasting Committee.

As the top earner, the UK market contributed about $2.8 billion to tourism earnings in 2004 and that market will grow to $4.8 billion in the coming decade.
