The recent bombing in Bali have been appropriately condemned by the Australian government. The attacks have killed at least two Australians. Not unsurprisingly, the pundits are saying this will adversely affect tourism in Bali. An interesting commentary addresses these concerns and urges people to continue to travel to the island so dependent on tourist dollars. Although the article in The Australian argues Bali will bounce back quickly due to the boom cycle - much like Nick does in BaliBlog, the Times Online isn’t as optimistic. In order to cope with the expected flock of tourists wishing to return home, extra flights were added. The most interesting story to break, however, is that while the Australian government issued a heightened warning, the British government did not. And they’re getting some flack about it.
