Royal National Park, Ferry Service

Are you in Sydney and need to get out of the paved jungle? If you head just a little south- you’ll feel like you are on another planet entirely. Instead of pavement…you’ll be surrounded by nature! The Royal National Park established in 1879, it is now about 16,000 hectares of National Parkland- and just stones throw from Sydney! Can you imagine! Secluded beaches, sand dunes, dramatic cliffs, spreading heaths and cool rainforests can all be found just across the Port Hacking River, south of Cronulla. Even Easier- there is a ferry that can take you across to the little village of Bundeena for your base of operations. Enjoy the short scenic cruise from Cronulla to Bundeena, aboard the MV Curranulla.

Bundeena itself is unique in that it is a small community within the Royal National Park, providing an ideal starting point for a fascinating day of bushwalking and picnicking. Discover Aboriginal Rock carvings on Jibbon Point, take a relaxing stroll on the beaches or go fishing. There is an RSL and a few café’s.

The ferry schedule is seasonal. During the winter (April-October) they start at 8:30 am and run hourly until 5:30PM.

Ferries run from the public wharf at Tonkin ST, Gunnamatta Bay, just below the Cronulla railway station.
