Let’s face it – theme parks are fun! They give us all a big thrill and keep us busy for hours or days even. The Gold Coast is like a theme park mecca since it basically harbors five amazing places to take your friends or family while in the area. And, since Brisbane is just around the corner, they make for a great escape from there as well!

Five theme parks near the Gold Coast:

Dreamworld

Dreamworld is the thrill-ride seeker’s best friend, featuring The Big 6 Thrill Rides. The Giant Drop, in particular, has proved to be one of the world’s tallest and fastest of the rides of its kind. In addition to these thrilling rides and roller coasters, the park holds the Tiger Island attraction where visitors can get up close and personal with some beautiful giant cats. The park contains several themed areas: Ocean Parade, Nick Central, Wiggles World, Gold Rush Country, Rocky Hollow and the Australian Wildlife Experience. It’s open all year from 10am to 5pm and is located on the Pacific Highway in Coomera. Adults: $72 AUD. Children: $47 AUD. Visit site >>

Whitewater World

Whitewater World is in the same park as Dreamworld, and it features water slides, wave pools and a special Wiggles section for the little ones to enjoy. One ride, the Blue Ringed Octopus has riders reaching speeds of nearly 50 kilometers per hour while going down head first. The park is open all year around, with heated water in the winter. Operating hours go from 10am to 4pm and is located on the Pacific Highway in Coomera. Adults: $45 AUD. Children: $30 AUD. Visit site >>

Combined tickets for the above two theme parks are available for discounts.

Warner Brothers Movie World

Warner Brothers Movie World is a Dreamworld alternative featuring rides, shows and special attractions. Rides can take you from calm to thrilling in no time, like when experiencing the Batwing Spaceshot, while the shows will delight and excite patrons with their amazing effects. Warner Brothers Movie World is open year round from 10am to 5pm and is located on the Pacific Highway about 20 minutes north of Surfers Paradise. Adults: $75. Children $50. Visit site >>

Wet’n'Wild Water World

Wet’n'Wild Water World is the Whitewater World alternative being located just within the same park area as Warner Brothers Movie World. Numerous water rides, water slides and activities fill the park, including the Kamikaze ride that lets patrons reach speeds of 50 kilometers an hour! The park is open all year round with heated water in the winter. Operating hours go from 10am to 4, 5 or 9pm depending on the time of the year. Adults: $55. Children: $35. Visit site >>

Sea World

Sea World in the Gold Coast is full of fun from its shark bay to corkscrew rollercoaster. Sea World is a theme park full of attractions that feature the wonder of the water world, while also providing thrills with its rides and relaxation with its shopping and food. When stopping by, there is even a fantastic resort to stay in. The park is open year round and is located on Main Beach just minutes from Surfers Paradise. Adult: $75. Children: $50. Visit site >>

Combined tickets for the above three theme parks are available for discounts.

There is so much to do at the Gold Coast. I have been there many times and always find something new to do check out TheNetTravelGuide.com for Gold Coast to see all attractions. The theme parks are great but there is so much more to do than just theme parks…

Best to purchase the combined tickets or multi-park multi-season tickets for the best value.

I agree with the above comment – you save a lot of money if you bulk book the parks. I’d recommend taking a break over the weekend though – do 2 on Thursday/Friday and 2 on Monday and Tuesday or you will be dead tired!
