As an add on, the manager of the Bark Hut happens to be a local biologist. Yes folks not only can he make a foaming cup of Nescafe…he organizes wildlife safaris and specialty fishing tours. Tom Starr runs Wild Plains Safari’s. They specialize in small group tailor made trips to Mary River National Park and Arnhemland.

The Custom tours start at about $350 pp/d for the Mary River Trips- all inclusive with accommodation at the Bark Hut.

The Arnhemland tours start at $400 pp/d all inclusive including camping facilities.

Tom was incredibly passionate about the tours he runs saying that he organizes each trip according to what the group wants (including catering for special dietary needs)- some people are very keen fisher-people and others just want to watch the wildlife.
