A shortage of citrus pickers in the Riverland is opening up some sunny job prospects for backpackers.
“The Riverland is one of Australia’s sunniest regions and autumn is one of the best times to visit,” Riverland Marketing Manager Roz Becker said.
“Most years the region experiences a shortage of workers in May and June when export to the United States begins.
“This year there is expected to be even more work available, providing backpackers with a terrific way to see a beautiful part of Australia while earning money at the same time.”
Ms Becker said ‘about six to eight weeks’ work is available, from the end of April.
