Hotels earn $85m more in 2004

Hotels and other tourist accommodation earned $396.1million last year, an $85.6m jump over 2003.

The Bureau of Statistics said the last quarter of 2004 saw a 24.8 per cent jump over the same period in 2003 with hotels earning $107m from accommodation, sales of food, liquor, telephone and other charges.

It said most visitors during the peak period came from Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America.
