Aussie Exports to Look For, Wine in a Can
Finally ! Thank goodness! I was in a crisis until I saw this latest clever Aussie invention! How on earth are you supposed to get pissed at the beach or on a boat without… are you ready for it?….. Wine in a CAN!!!!!
Yes that’s right- first we had wine in a box, then the screw cap to make the wine purists gasp (which are handy), now…it is wine in a can- with bubbles and without! Secondary School girls everywhere are cheering!
The flavors tend to be on the lighter side …

Oz Survival Guide To Food- Ketchup
It goes without saying that The Aussies are a saucy bunch, however, for your own safety, there are a few things you need to know about their management, preferences and presentation of the local food and condiments. First in yet another series of Survival Guides.
First off- Ketchup- they don’t really have it. They have a similar substance called Tomato Sauce. (say it with the snobby tomahhhhto) Tomahhto Sauce, while it is different- it is basically Ketchup without the thickeners and the sugar. Not bad….most times. (You can get Ketchup in grocery stores if you …

Australia Day, January 26th
January 26th strap on your Green and Gold, grab a flag, face paint, a slab of beer and head to the beach! You won’t be able to go to the bank or any other business. Why? It’s Australia Day Baby! Australia’s closest thing to a birthday, it marks the day that the first fleet under Captain Arthur Phillip arrived in Sydney Cove and set up the colony of New South Wales.
BBQ’s, beach outings, fireworks, and all kinds of celebrations take place all over the …

Australia Day Havaiana Thong Challenge.
Havaiana is an extremely popular brand of thong (flip flop…I do STILL giggle). Every Australia Day they put on the Thong Challenge. While most of you are envisioning the Thong Song with girls writhing in thong-like underwear on a beach, this is not quuiiiiiite that. It does still involve people being scantily clad on a beach, however, it involves attempting a world record for the longest line of airbeds! HA!
So thousands of people climb on their own personal flip flop shaped airbed, hold each others ankles and break a world record. Oh I know I know- I can hear the groans of disappointment from you men out there, but this event is still supposed to be absolutely a blast….and you get to keep the thong!
Do try and register on line ASAP. I hear it is difficult to register on the day. Venues: Dee Why Beach-NSW, St Kilda Beach- VIC, Glegelg Beach- SA, City Beach- WA, Palm Beach- QLD

Mudgee, New South Wales, More than just a Wine Region
Mudgee, 3 hours from Sydney and only 8000 people, but for all of that, this friendly country town has got it goin’ on! Over 50 Cellar Doors (places to try wine), vineyards as far as the eye can see, rolling hills, and a couple of rivers make this a pretty snazzy locale for adventure, getting back to nature and ….romance….. I’ll be writing several pieces on Mudgee in the upcoming weeks. To get you started here is a preview of some events that Mudgee plays host to.

Australian National Anthem, Advance Australia Fair
Well people, if you are going to any major sporting event, or important civil do…it probably doesn’t hurt to know the words to the National Anthem. A far cry from God Save the Queen, I find Advance Australia Fair a cheeky message to the English about the continuing grief the decendants of the original convicts sent to Australia feel about being banished….
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free,
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history’s page,
let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.
