World-class cooking
Two of Australia’s most famous restaurants have made the world’s top 50 list. Tetsuya’s ranked fifth and was the best restaurant in Australasia, while Sydney’s seafood beacon Rockpool climbed up 12 places to number 30.
I’ve never eaten at either - anyone think they’re worthy of the praises?

Australia is cool in the UK
Awards just continue to get more and more ridiculous - Australia has now becoming the first country ever to receive ‘cool’ status in the UK. As if the thousands of backpackers that flock Down Under weren’t proof enough (or the 2.8 billion that they bring to the Oz economy) CoolBrands has deemed it so. Whoo hoo! The Almost-Darwin Award Nominee
After a big night out with the boys, a Perth man woke up to find himself inside of a garbage bin, on his way to the dump. Apparently he had been placed in the bin as either a practical joke - or to sleep it off. The man survived, thus making him ineligible for the Darwin Awards. It would’ve been a good story too. Power-dressing Aussie leaves trail of destruction
Australians can now boast to *almost* being able to lay claim to the Darwin award for this year. According to a fire official, a man with series electricity issues was one step away from serious harm. “We tested his clothes with a static electricity field meter and measured a current of 40,000 volts, which is one step shy of spontaneous combustion, where his clothes would have self-ignited,” Barton said.
