Single Aussie Men, Where to go to Find a Good Bloke

dsc01344.thumbnail.JPGI came across this fantastic and hilarious article via a link from the Daily Boomerang, a very good daily blog about this crazy life and travelling Down Under. Under the pressures of my day job, I have recently been travelling in and around the Singleton NSW area. The Daily Boomerang called me out as having a possible alternative motive! The nerve! (he he he)

From the Daily Boomerang:

Are you a woman and living in Australia and looking for somewhere to go to meet a good bloke?:

“The young women of …

Dubbo Zoo, How to Hear Cheetahs Purr

lodge-5.thumbnail.jpgGet sneezed on by a giraffe, get licked by a rhino and get stalked by a cheetah. If you come to visit NSW and have a bit of time to see the place, definitely take the 5 hour trek out to Dubbo. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere, Dubbo is a thriving and vibrant in-land city. One of the oldest in-land settlements, it is thoughfully located at the crossroads of two major rivers, making it important for trade.

After driving through tiny little towns and endless rural and pastoral …

Sydney Observatory, Total Eclipse Party

moon_eclipse_2345-15_rod_so.thumbnail.jpgHey any one need a REALLY good idea for a date? The Sydney Observatory is placed in quite arguably one of the most scenic spots in all of Sydney.

On the hill just next to the Harbour Bridge, it is a stunning vantage point. At any time of year, a visit during the day or evening is not misplaced. They quite frequently have family friendly programs and events. One that has caught my eye is coming up next Tuesday.

There is to be a Total …

Outback Australia, The Birdsville Races

header.thumbnail.jpgAre you in Australia and looking for something unique and different to do? Right up there with the Lightning Ridge Great Goat Races and the Parkes Elvis Festival, The Birdsville Races are quintessentially Aussie. The Aussies looooove their horse racing. The glamour, the excitement, the money, the thunder of the hooves, and the cold refreshment of the booze.

Birdsville is one of the loneliest Outback places on the continent with about 100 people usually residing in the region along the “Birdsville Trak.” Over the famous race weekend …

The Hunter Valley, More Than Just Wine

dsc00229.thumbnail.JPGSo I’ve lived in Sydney for over two years and haven’t managed to get my lazy backside out to the Hunter Valley which is only around 2 hours outside of Sydney. Man have I been missing out! It took the APEC weekend for me to need an escape and book a tour to go to the Hunter.

We booked a fantabulous weekend retreat at Shelly Beach Cabins at The Entrance. . These little beauties are across the street from the beach, sleep 6 and …

The Hunter Valley, Branxton Hotel

dsc002161.thumbnail.JPGThe Hunter Valley is a well known wine, coal mining, and race horse breeding area about 2 .5 hours north of Sydney. I am on a work trip and am happliy tucking into a bottle of wine at the affordable yet luxurious Branxton Hotel in the Hunter Valley. Australian Traveller’s Top 100 things to do in Australia lists “Stay in a Country Pub” as one of the items. Well, if you would like to tick that one off your personal list, this place rocks! …

Melbourne Bushwalks/Day Hikes

Check out this article from the Daily Boomerang. It looks like they had a fab time in the local Werribee Gorge near Melbourne. Come on! How can you resist going to a town called Bacchus!

If you are in the Melbourne area looking for an easy day hike that isn’t to far outside of town one of the places I highly recommend is Werribee Gorge State Park. I took a trip to this park that is located a short 40 minute drive west of Melbourne near the city Bacchus Marsh this past weekend. …

South Australia, Glenelg: the Manly of Adelaide

dsc01366-1.thumbnail.JPGA few months back I had a thoroughly enjoyable visit to South Australia. One of the places I stayed while on that trip was the lovely beachy little suburb of Glenelg. This is definately the “get away” location that isn’t really “away”. You can feel miles…or kiolmeters… away from home while still only being an old fashioned tram ride away from the city center. If you are in Adelaide and can tear yourself away from the restaurants, markets, shopping, wineries, etc and are after a …

Cuddle a Koala, Australian Wildlife Experience

main.thumbnail.jpgCare to cuddle a koala? There are a couple of opportunites in the Sydney area and up around Brisbane. The Koala Park Sancutary in Pennet Hills is reachable by car, train and bus from Sydney. Horrifying to most, during the 1920’s , there was a growing export trade in Koala fur. One man,Noel Burnett, was alarmed enough by the rate at which the Koalas were being culled, he oened his very own Koala sanctuary.

The sanctuary lives on and has grown to include most of the iconic Australian …
