Australia Accommodations
The Hunter Valley, Branxton Hotel
The Hunter Valley is a well known wine, coal mining, and race horse breeding area about 2 .5 hours north of Sydney. I am on a work trip and am happliy tucking into a bottle of wine at the affordable yet luxurious Branxton Hotel in the Hunter Valley. Australian Traveller’s Top 100 things to do in Australia lists “Stay in a Country Pub” as one of the items. Well, if you would like to tick that one off your personal list, this place rocks! …

Last Minute Travel Deals, Canellations.com.au
Finally!!!!! This morning on my drive in, I heard a radio article that peaked my interest. I used to be a huge user of Priceline.com in the States for cheap last minute hotels. Upon moving to OZ, I was heartbroken to discover it doesn’t really work here. BUT! Cancellations is a new website that sounds promising.
Working on a similar premise of Priceline, they figure hotels have rooms and have a base cost to have those rooms. If someone cancels, or they don’t fill that room, it is better to have some …

Kangaroo Island Accomodation, Flinders Chase Farm
Flinders Chase farm is a charming and comfortable place to crash for the night or a week. It is on the west side of Kangaroo Island almost at the entrance to the National Park. No matter your budget, Flinders Chase Farm has an ideal place to lay your weary head. Originally, and still, a working sheep station, Steven and Kerryn Childs keep busy running the accommodation part of their property as well as their sheep. My only regret is that I didn’t have longer to stay and enjoy all that the Farm and Island had to offer.
There is a Hostel style bunk house in what was their original farm house. Several rooms are available sleeping 2-10. A main lounge room with Television, shared bathrooms, and a Huge outdoor communal kitchen and bbq area are all attached. Around $20/night pp.

Northern Territory- “Doing The Triangle”

South Australia, Glenelg: the Manly of Adelaide
A few months back I had a thoroughly enjoyable visit to South Australia. One of the places I stayed while on that trip was the lovely beachy little suburb of Glenelg. This is definately the “get away” location that isn’t really “away”. You can feel miles…or kiolmeters… away from home while still only being an old fashioned tram ride away from the city center. If you are in Adelaide and can tear yourself away from the restaurants, markets, shopping, wineries, etc and are after a …

Northern Territory Jet Setting
Ha Ha Ha! what a great title if I do say so. The concept of Jet setting in the NT is funny all in its own. Well, at any rate, my recent silence is attributed to the lack of Internet Facilities and Mobile Phone access I have experienced while tromping about in the bush of the Northern Territory this week. The Territory is HUGE on experience, not so hot on Connectivity.
I absolutely love coming to the Territory. It is a little bit dangerous, a little bit romantic, a little …

NSW South Coast Accomodation, Culburra Hideaway
Looking for an affordable surfie get away? Want to see some real wild and untamed ocean? About 2.5 hours south of Sydney, the Culburra Hide Away, located on Culburra beach near Jervis Bay, is sooooo chillaxed.
A true 1960’s beach pad, it has modern amenities, but beachy charm. Capable of sleeping up to 7, it has an eclectic decor, and not posh, but comfortable and homey furnishings. Bring your friends, own linens, food, and sporting equipment. There is a BBQ, DVD, TV and radio available if you plan to spend anytime indoors. With so much to do and see in the area, that is a major challenge.
Perfect for a weekend getaway or a week long total relax session, the house itself is opposite the surf beach, main beachfront and about 200M from the local surflifesaving club. Access is via a walkway. Penguin Point at the end of the street is breathtaking at high tide. There is a beautiful reserve lake 200 metres away at the end of the road with forest around it. The famous Jervis Bay town of Huskisson is a short drive away where you can snorkel, dive, most times see dolphins, and grab a beer and a meal at the Husky.

Wicked Dude! Calling young drivers! Irreverent Campervans.
Wa ha ha ha! What a way to travel! Do you like to play on the irreverent side of the road? If so- Wicked campers are just the thing for you. These little Combi Vans just crack me up every time I see one.
Trust me- they are unmistakable. The trademark campers are small vans turned campervan. They fit 2-3 people. Think transformers for big kids. They market to the younger set allowing for young drivers and lots of pop culture. You get a kitchen, CD player, cupboards, lawn chairs, bed/entertainment room, AND a way to get around!
