The Last Train To Freo
About a Suburb of Perth- Fremantle- lovingly known as Freo, the Critics loved this movie- It is an Australian film produced in Australia by Australians.
The Synopsis:
“At midnight, on a hot summers night, two ex cons board the last train to Fremantle. Bored, restless and looking for trouble, they start to poke fun at their mind numbing existence. Until a beautiful young law student, steps into the carriage, alone, and seemingly unaware that the guards are on strike.
But there’s more to this young woman than meets the eye. And when two other passengers join the train further down the line, the balance of power takes an unexpected twist.
Perth really is quite dangerous this time of year, according to a memo sent out to people who subscribe to the Department of Foreign Affairs travel advisory email list. While journlists had a good time with it, pointing out the odd shark attack and mauling of sports teams, the government is left red-faced, trying to explain how this erronous message was ever sent. The tourism council is the most upset, understandably. Recount the blunder: Warning: Perth danger alert

I realize that a large number of my posts center around the amazing social life of Sydney, so in an act of good will and opportunity to acknowledge that there are other cities with a nightlife out there, I am reaching out to our brothers on the west coast.
From a friend of mine, here is some insider information on what’s cool in Perth… Now I do trust his Judgement 100%, because not only is he a fair dinkum Aussie, but I know he takes his Social Responsibility (and his beer) very seriously.
From the book of Nathan: In the beginning God created the hops, the barley and the yeast. And the stein was without form, and void; and thirst was on the face of the travellers… (from Heather- oh dear here we go…)
Okay, it’s debatable that one shouldn’t parody religious texts, but let’s at least debate it over a beer. Where better to enjoy a cold bevvy (Aussie slang for beer) than Fremantle in Western Australia. ‘Freo’ as it is known to the locals, is located only 20 minutes south of the Perth CBD. It offers some of W.A.’s finest restaurants and cafes, and some of the states best preserved late 1800’s streetscapes… but enough about that, let’s get back to the beer.
My personal pick of the Freo ‘watering holes’ is the popular Little Creatures Brewery in the Fishing Boat Harbour precinct.
Exercise, sea, sun, and sculpture. Sculpture by the sea is a fabulous opportunity to take in the natural beauty of the eastern seaboard and get your daily dose of culture all in one. Be warned- this is an EXTREMELY popular event and the sidewalks are absolutely packed on the weekend. If you can swing it- go during the week. The walk starts (or ends) near Bondi Icebergs. Forget even trying to get in there during this event- the wait is likely to be hours. Instead- bring your cossie (swimsuit), grab a picnic to eat en-route near a favorite sculpture that you would like a bit more time to ponder, and enjoy the sunshine.
It’s the rock star of the world for the eighth time: Sydney claimed top honors in American mag Travel and Leisure’s poll of best places in the world. Bali remained the number one island. Perth was named the number two city in the region.

Britons are flocking to Australia and with its sun, sand and cheap housing, Perth is their favourite destination, says Lynne Greenwood From Paradise, on the other side of the world
If I could pick anywhere to settle in Oz, I would definitely go to WA. Article doesn’t really explain why Brits are flocking there versus elsewhere in the country, however.
