How to Get around Brisbane, Maps and Transport Options
First things first, Brisbane is NOT on the coast! Many people arrive and are disappointed to find out that the buzzing little city of Bris-Vegas is not on the coast. It is about an hour in land built on a river.
That said it is still a beautiful and fun place to visit. So close to the infamous Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise and Byron Bay, many people fly into Brisbane, and then catch transport from there.
So how do you get around Brisbane and Queensland you ask? The following links provide schedules, routes, and fee information. Click Here to get a map of Brisbane.

State of Origin III - Second Half
NSW score. 24-0.
Early pressure from QLD came to naught and once again NSW go down the other end of the field and Andrew Johns pulls a few strings and the Blues score. Can’t see QLD coming back from here. They just haven’t shown anything that makes me think they can score.
NSW score. 28-0.
Sloppy play by QLD backs leads toa dropped ball, picked up by NSW and run back for a try in the corner. This is turning into a slaughter and it’s not pretty. The only thing worse than watching this train wreck is having it commentated by Gus Gould, the smarmiest, smuggest NSW ex-coach that no one likes.

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Boo Hoo…
Well, Chrisso, today’s the day… and dammit if you didn’t let us have a Sound of Music farewell party [though the clowns surely sufficed?!], at least I deserve to paraphrase…
Chrisso, Chrisso, Chrisso, you are but a star. You turned up in my world at a, er, fairly fragile time, and BANG, you, unknowingly helped me get back on me [clown shoe-wearing] feet… falling several times on me erse again - in a good way! Many beers, many chats, did I say many beers, many rugby games, many ANY games, the ‘odd’ game of Sundee morning tennis, many ventures …

Cuddle a Koala, Australian Wildlife Experience
Care to cuddle a koala? There are a couple of opportunites in the Sydney area and up around Brisbane. The Koala Park Sancutary in Pennet Hills is reachable by car, train and bus from Sydney. Horrifying to most, during the 1920’s , there was a growing export trade in Koala fur. One man,Noel Burnett, was alarmed enough by the rate at which the Koalas were being culled, he oened his very own Koala sanctuary.
The sanctuary lives on and has grown to include most of the iconic Australian …

Brisbane – dead boring or just plain dead?
Poor Brissie is back where some say it belongs - as the butt of a joke. A recent book declared the city to be simultaneously boring and dangerous. The tongue-in-cheek book has some tourism officials once again defending against the boring moniker. I gotta be honest - I tend to agree with the book. Brisbane – dead boring or just plain dead?

State of Origin III - Game Time
QLD nearly turned attack into tragedy with a dodgy kick by Lockyer run back by Minichello for an almost certain score. A great tackle by Matty Bowen to save a try, but how did QLD not score?! So much pressure but great NSW defense. Love this stuff!
After all the early pressure on both lines, NSW comes away with 2 points from a weak penalty. The crowd is starting to get back into it with cries of “Queenslander!!” My brother and a one of my buddies are a t this game, no doubt yelling their lungs out. 14 minutes gone.

Christmas cheer without the beer
No alcohol will be allowed during the annual backpacker Christmas Day party on Australia’s Bondi Beach, which attracts 40,000 people, after hundreds of often drunken revelers had to be rescued from the surf last year. From Christmas cheer without the beer
I understand where they are coming from, but what is Christmas at Bondi without some booze?

Too Much Stuff
I’m leaving the country in less than 24 hours and I’ve come to the realization that I have too much stuff. When I returned from the US just over a year ago I had one huge bag stuffed full and a backpack that was mostly empty. Now I’ve got the same huge bag stuffed even more full, a backpack that’s bursting and I still have to mail back a box of less essential items like CD’s, t-shirts, cameras, etc. If a rolling stone gathers no moss, this pebble is covered in green.
