Embassies in Australia

Being a long way from home, it is always good to know that an embassy or consulate is available when you need them. Australia is a large country that houses a number of embassies, high commissions and consulates, so no matter where you travel, help is never too far away if an emergency should arise.

Embassies help citizens of that country with a range of services that can be as simple as getting a document notarized or getting extra pages in a passport. Brand new passports can also be issued if the current one expires, gets mutilated or stolen while on the road. Unfortunately, passports do get stolen from time to time, but hopefully you will never have issues and need to use this information.

Visa Assistance

If traveling on past Australia to a country that requires a visa for entry, the embassy or consulate for that country will need to be contacted. Each embassy’s application process is different, but they usually involve a form, passport photos and payment in order to receive a valid visa. It is always a good idea to check for specific details on the embassy’s website, or simply by phoning ahead. Wait times for visa processing can take anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks (perhaps longer) depending on the visa for which you applied.
