Brisbane Weather

Two weeks ago, it was the hottest day in February ever. Today, we’re getting a Severe Weather Warning with a chance of a cyclone developing. I can already hear the wind picking up outside and the rain has just started to come down as well. As the weather lady on the news last night said, be sure to tie down the outdoor furniture.

PIE FLOATERS???

Recently we travelled from sunny queensland to Adelaide. We came upon a strange dish called a pie floater….a pie floating in soup.

We werent quite sure but a smooth talking chef at a cute little shop on Wyatt St won us over with hisThere’s a great little shop in Adelaide called NOSH which has taken the pie floater into the new millenium. Insteaaad of the old standard of a meat pie floating in green mush, they have taken a basically sound culinary principle of a pie upside down in soup one stop further. You can get combinations such as :-
Beef Burgundy Pie in French Onion Soup
and Pumpkin and Cauliflower Pie in Thai Spiced Pumpkin soup.

We became addicted but unfortunately we now back in Brisvegas….and no pie floaters to be found.

Does anyone know of the history of this dish??? Is it just an Adelaide thing…or does it branch out further????
