Destinations

Needless to say, Australia is a huge country, and its many charms are well spread out. Visiting more than one or two of the major cities or attractions can be difficult unless you plan well and commit yourself. Below are some of the major destinations to consider when planning your trip to Australia, but of course this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Adelaide – The capital and largest city in the state of South Australia, Adelaide isn’t in the top tier of tourist centers in this country, but it’s got plenty going for it in addition to a nice climate.

Brisbane – Located on the northern east coast, Brisbane gets loads of tourist traffic from those coming to explore the Gold Coast and the Great Barrier Reef, but it’s also coming into its own as a destination.

Cairns – This city has an outsized fame due to its closeness to the Great Barrier Reef. If you want to explore that amazing coral system, chances are you’ll come through Cairns at some point.

Canberra – The capital of the country is an unusual tourist destination that doesn’t get as many visitors as one might think. It’s pretty much all business here, so be sure you are coming for a specific reason.

Melbourne – Known for its fast-changing climate and artsy culture, Melbourne is a huge city that many people prefer over Sydney, so be sure to include it in your itinerary if possible.

Perth – No one comes to Perth by accident, as it’s thousands of miles from pretty much everywhere, but it has an excellent climate and is becoming quite a popular place to visit.

Sydney – Australia’s largest and most famous city deserves all the hype and must be visited if at all possible. It’s one of the most pleasant large cities in the world, with great facilities and nearby beaches in addition to everything else.
