May in Australia

whalesharkAustralia in May finds itself in the final month of autumn, just before the beginning of the cooler winter months. Don’t be fooled; winter in Australia doesn’t mean cold snow for the majority of the country. You might just find that the cooler weather is more conducive to hiking, biking and taking road trips.

If it is sunny heat that you desire, you’ll want to head north of New South Wales in the east, or you can just make a trip to the outback. If you do head north, just beware that this is the beginning of the busier season in the Cairns and tropical areas of the country. Even caravan parks will start to get busier as seniors and backpackers choose to bypass winter. Those on working holidays will also find that the job market is more saturated with other travelers, making it more difficult to get a job.

This time of year is great for getting cheap flights to Australia, as well as discounted rates on various hotels and beach resorts.

Wow I loved the picture you have posted. I have never been to the whaleshark festival but I am sure gonna go now. I cant wait for May.
You should also post about upcoming months you know like about December in November and about November in October…so that we don’t have to wait a whole year. Just an idea!

Summer has began but if you want to enjoy the autumns the Australia is the place for you as may is the last month of autumn so you can travel and enjoy Melbourne jazz festival. Stay in your favorite hotel and enjoy autumn in summers.

It is funny though how cold it can get, especially inside. Not all home have heating when you are sharing a house…. I remember arriving in Melbourne at the end of May from Germany (where you are never cold inside!) and sitting in front of a bar heater with a blanket wrapped around me.

True, it’s not like European winter, but somehow you feel it when there is not real protection from it.
